Crush I.C.E. SF
Initiative Fact Sheet
CRUSH ICE SF is working to put an initiative on the November ballot to:
1) declare ICE and Border Patrol to be terrorist organizations and,
2) ban their members from future employment by the City and County of San Francisco (subject to ratification by Civil Service Commission), as well as employment on City contracts.
The ban on ICE and Border Patrol working on City contracts does not need ratification by the Civil Service Commission.
The ban would affect all ICE and most Border Patrol employees who are employed on or after January 1, 2027.
The Oxford Dictionary defines “terrorist” as a person “who uses unlawful violence and intimidation, especially against civilians, in the pursuit of political goals.”
Here’s what U.S. District Judge Joseph Goodwin wrote earlier this year, dismissing charges against a man illegally detained and arrested by ICE: “Across the interior of the United States, agents of the federal government — masked, anonymous, armed with military weapons, operating from unmarked vehicles, acting without warrants of any kind — are seizing persons for civil immigration violations and imprisoning them without any semblance of due process. The systematic character of this practice and its deliberate elimination of every structural feature that distinguishes constitutional authority from raw force place it beyond the reach of ordinary legal description. It is an assault on the constitutional order.”
